Emily, please reach out to me. We need to stay connected. 808 269 6031. Alicia. PS it was an absolute pleasure reconnecting tonight. I love your podcast.
Thank you for this very important Part 3 information about Douglas County Commissioners secret, fast-tracked plan for Home Rule. You & Angela are clear, practical educators.
Could the Commissioners' reason for creating an expensive special election for the rushed home rule charter with an all Republican 21-member commission be to fund the various water projects such as the Zebulon Sports Complex, the Pomeroy spa in Roxborough, etc?
That’s a solid theory. I almost feel like they are saying the outlandish things ("we can ignore state law!”) in order to distract from an unspoken goal that has to do with water.
Theresa and I have been discussing the water issue and I asked her to investigate it as we prepare to contend with this and inform voters. We believe it may be (in part) behind this Home Rule push because the parties involved stand to make so much money from the project they propose. But everything is being done in darkness, and behind closed doors. I wonder if we don't have an option at the Attorney General's office of seeking transparency and more answers.
